CRAFTEON BLASTS BARDIC BLACK METAL AT SURFSIDE 7

The band CRAFTEON from Denver is the conception of vocalist, guitarist, and teacher of literature Lord Mordiggian who was inspired to create an entire album influenced by his favorite writer H.P. Lovecraft. Lovecraft’s ability to evoke brooding otherworldly horror has influenced a great many heavy metal artists from Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath to Metallica. Yet no band has ever paid tribute to Lovecraft with the same degree of scope and immersion as the appropriately named CRAFTEON. Their debut album, called Cosmic Reawakening, was recently released on August 25, and is based on classic H.P. Lovecraft tales such as “The Outsider”, “Dagon” and “From Beyond.” Lord Mordiggian commented on the release, “This recording prudently recounts an antiquarian bundle of peculiar short stories authored by the famed American horror writer, H.P. Lovecraft, featuring a blasphemous potpourri of amorphous black metal enmeshed with spurious, assonant passages of hope juxtaposed and vanquished by discordant strains of utter despair and madness.” Achieving the unachievable in crafting music to match the stories, CRAFTEON can be best described as Bardic Black Metal and for fans of Dissection, Naglfar, Lord Belial, early Ancient, and early Dark Tranquillity. CRAFTEON’s other band members are Fthaggua on lead guitar and backing vocals, Ithaqua on bass and backing vocals, and Rhagorthua on drums. Endlight and Infinite Conscious join CRAFTEON at Surfside 7 in Fort Collins on Sunday, September 3 at 9 p.m. Tickets are $7 and the first five attendees receive a free pint of Odell beer.
