Arliss Nancy – Wild American Runners

The album title seems to aptly fit the sound of Fort Collins’ Arliss Nancy. It evokes images of the Midwest, of chasing love, of escaping. The shared vocals of guitarist Cory Call and bassist Kyle “GB” Oppold come straight from Bruce Springsteen’s gut; a coarse, gravelly thunder that makes you feel more American and makes you wish you had a beard. Wild American Runners is pure rock and roll, drawing on subtle influences of punk and country. Highlights from the Arliss Nancy’s third full-length album are numerous and varied; the drive and plead of “Troubador” or the brief and to-the-point “Benjamin” differ from the unhurried, nostalgic “Vonnegut.” Comprised of Jason Larson (guitar), Chris Love (keyboard) and Dominic Buttice (drums) alongside Call and Oppold, Arliss Nancy revives the previously lost and forgotten rock of America’s Midwest. Be sure to check them out and support the local talent at Wild American Runners’ release party at Road 34 on November 15.
