With eight and a half years of playing together, Musketeer Gripweed has reached a new plateau with their time as a band. With family as their frontman, members Jason Downing, the charismatic Reverend Monkey-Paw Patterson – guitar, dobro, harmonica, vocals, Ehren Crumpler – guitar and vocals, Ben Hockett – bass and vocals, Matt Goldberg – keys and Stu Crair – drums, percussion and vocals, Musketeer Gripweed devotes the jist of their time with family, and when time allows for that break, that we all recognize so well, boy do they get down and jam!
Recently curtailing from an eight month break, they met up with some friends in California and decided to give recording another whirl. Thus, their brand spanking new ‘not even off the press yet’ album release – Fires And Floods, A Tribute and Relief Effort with proceeds dedicated to Colorado families affected by the fires and floods that have ravaged Northern Colorado communities.
Not only is the entire masterpiece an honor to the spirit of Coloradoans and the loss and perseverance experienced and the pulling through with keeping stride at the same time, but also a vehicle for re-defining the purpose of music by providing an outlet for artists and musicians to interactively participate as key support in raising awareness and help.
Truly, Northern Colorado suffered greatly, however, many families’ extensions reached beyond the Northern Front Range and into southern parts of the state that also were affected.
Also, Cheba Hut has released a Gripweed sandwich with all proceeds supporting NOCO Rebuilding Charity – an excellent community collaboration.
Their upcoming CD Release Show will be at The Aggie Theatre on April 11 with doors opening at 7pm. ‘This Show Is For 21+’ is a nice hometown stomper get down party that will be more like ‘a long awaited for’ family reunion than anything else.Musketeer Gripweed’s style is feeling the feelings and playing music that describes it, and now it’s time to share the love! It’s to be an excellent jam show and relief efforts are in place to help rebuilding in NOCO. So best put, it is a celebration to kick off re-establishing lives and homes in a more conducive climate shift.
Tickets are available on their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/MusketeerGripweed or at www.aggietheatre.com, $8 advance and $12 day of the show.
