WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN THE PARTY

It all started Valentine’s Day of 2013 with a text saying, “Rendezvous in the red room at 4 o’clock.”

This signaled the four band members to meet for their first official jam together in the legendary red room at guitarist, Alex Forsthoff’s house, and it was true love from then on.

“While we are playing, I feel complete,” said Kelly Belknap, bassist for Red Room Rendezvous. “The music takes me away to another world where nothing bad happens and everything is okay.”

The four-piece band, comprised of Patty Partheymuller on vocals, Belknap on bass, Forsthoff on guitar and Scott Siler on percussion, shares a connection not seen in other bands and this comfort is apparent when they come together. They are not just a band, but a family.

“Red Room Rendezvous has brought a whole other dimension to my life that I never thought I would experience,” said Partheymuller. “Being able to create music with my best friends has been the greatest thing to ever happen to me.”

The formation of Red Room Rendezvous has not only been life-changing for the band members but for music-lovers alike in Colorado.

Known for their intense energy, catchy vocals and groovy sound, Red Room Rendezvous never fails to get the audience dancing. Each and every show the band plays tops the previous performance as the funkiest dance party around.

“We love to see the audience smiling and dancing when we play,” said Forsthoff. “Our shows can range from pure joy to complete chaos, but somehow, no matter what happens, we still pull it off.”

This unpredictable aspect of the band is what makes each show exciting. Whether Red Room Rendezvous brings in a larger crowd than the headliner or hosts an 80’s ski costume contest, the audience never knows what to expect.

Food poisoning is not even enough to stop them.

Last October, Belknap had food poisoning when they opened up for Aspen Hourglass at the Aggie Theatre.

“I was puking every five minutes and brought a trash can on stage just in case,” said Belknap. “Instead of a stage beer on the amp, I had Pepto Bismol.”

“I will never forget how sick he was,” said Siler. “I guess you could say we like to live dangerously.”

No matter what is going on in their lives or how they are feeling, they always manage to come together and play their hearts out.

Since becoming a band just over a year ago, Red Room Rendezvous has played at venues all throughout Colorado including The Barkley Ballroom, Cervantes Other Side and the Spokesbuzz Lounge at Mishawaka, among others.

“Our Spokesbuzz show was surreal,” said Partheymuller. “So many great people came out to support us as a headlining act. It was pretty unbelievable that people came all the way out there just for us.”

Now that the majority of band members are finished with school or close to graduating, you can expect great things from Red Room Rendezvous in the coming future.

“We all have such busy lives that we have needed to make a conscious effort to get practice in,” said Partheymuller. “In a way it has been easy for us because of how important music and Red Room Rendezvous is in our lives. I trust that we are in this for the long haul and that we’ll be around for years to come.”

The next couple months are jam-packed for the band. They are playing FoCoMX on April 25 at East Coast, the Fox Theatre in Boulder on May 7 and Road 34 with Bill Smith on May 9. On top of it all, they are constantly writing new tunes and finding ways to improve their sound.

No matter where life takes the band, they are happy as long as they are together and playing music for their fans.

“I can see the connection on people’s faces when we play and I know that we have touched them in some way,” said Siler. “Music has been one of the most humbling experiences for me and it continues to have an impact on my life. In this crazy world, I just see creativity as one of the most important traits in a human being.”
