As with many Denver bands of such longevity, The Photo Atlas have again proven to be a group of innovation, built off years of hard fought stature and badassness. The vocals of Alan Andrew Jr. are by now familiar in their bite, backed by Joe Bruno’s pounding drums, Chris Martinez’s raucous yet methodic guitar and the demanding bass of Wes Luna. There is something sexy in the urgency of Disregard Disconnect, an incomprehensible gravitation felt as early as 2007’s No, Not Me, Never. However, the power behind The Photo Atlas is now backed by years of practiced angst and attained rage, the punk desperation still eminent in its maturity. It is an authentic performance from a not-so underground artist that has shed its adolescent apprehensions.
