In Weddings, Floods and Funerals, Boulder-based musician Danny Shafer brings on an entourage of Front Range names to assist in this compilation of both style and subject. Artists from such groups as Great American Taxi, Halden Wofford & the Hi Beams, Hardest Working Americans, Spyro Gyra, The Railsplitters and The Monocle Band contribute to the heavy influences of Americana, bluegrass, Western and rock ‘n’ roll throughout the album. Gram Parson’s “Blue Eyes” is the only song on Weddings, Floods and Funerals not written by Shafer himself, underlining the respect of the classic term of singer-songwriter. Music appears as an outlet, as Shafer reflects on love, laments losses, and celebrates a solid barbecue. Be on the watch for Shafer’s performance, as he is everywhere along the Front Range, including breweries, bars and headlining venues.
