CITY BUZZ: RIST CANYON MOUNTAIN

BY: CARIE GUESWEL

In 2013, the High Park fire, the second most destructive fire in Colorado’s history, raged throughout Northern Colorado, burning over 100,000 acres, devouring upwards of 259 homes and costing Coloradoans millions in its wake. Many brave firefighters fought fearlessly to protect the homes and lives of others, while suffering the loss of their own properties and those of their loved ones. Some of the contributing firefighters belonged to the Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department or RCVFD, a non tax-funded department that relies solely on the donations of others in order to operate. Come joint the Rist Canyon Mountain Festival on September 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 11835 Rist Canyon Road and help support our local volunteer firefighters. The event is family friendly; enjoy live music, a live art auction, food, cool demonstrations and much more! Funds raised from the festival will benefit the RCVFD.
