You have to see it to believe it. That’s the motto of the OtterBox Digital Dome Theater at the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery, Northern Colorado’s only fully immersive 360º digital theater. What is a dome theater? Think back to your school days when you went on fieldtrips to the planetarium with the seats that leaned way back and the gigantic machine in the middle of the room that projected stars on the ceiling… now fast-forward 20 years, throw in high-end digital projectors, stadium style seating, and a premium surround sound system and you’ve pretty much got the idea. But aren’t planetariums just for kids? Not the OtterBox Digital Dome! Here at the Dome we like to push the boundaries and think outside the box (or the dome?) and feature as many different experiences as we can. Dubstep laser show, done that. Fashion show, yep, that too. Live classical music concerts, oh yeah. Cutting-edge digital art shows, yes. You have to see it to believe it! So, the real question is when are you going to see it? Coming up this month, we’ve got some really amazing opportunities to do just that. On January 13th will be another event in the Acoustic Treatment series where you can hear stories – and ask questions – as local musicians share tales from their song-writing experience, intermixed with an intimate acoustic set and amazing visualizations on the dome. On January 20th, there will be a LaserDome event where a visual journey is created along with the music of some of your favorite artists. This month, the visual team has been coming up with an amazing show featuring Muse. And of course there will be a bar available at both of these events (we did mention this was adult fun-time right?)
