The state House voted 56-7 last month to bar public employees from assisting federal agents in “arresting a Colorado citizen for committing an act that is a Colorado constitutional right.” The Colorado bill doesn’t specifically mention marijuana. But sponsors say it is inspired by threats that federal authorities may try cracking down on the marijuana industry. Federal authorities generally rely on local law enforcement to enforce federal drug law. California lawmakers are considering a similar bill. Colorado is also considering a measure to allow marijuana growers to reclassify recreational pot as medical pot, a gambit to avoid federal seizure of recreational pot plants. The Trump Administration has sent mixed messages on whether a marijuana crackdown is planned.

1. Portland-based Portugal. The Man is branching into the cannabis industry by  teaming up with international advertising agency Wieden + Kennedy and Oregon Cannabis grower Hifi Farms. Named after their current single, the band will release “Feel it Still,” a custom, pre-rolled cannabis blend. The blend is made from Top Shelf hybrid strains Gorilla Glue #4 and Girl Scout Cookies.

2. It’s no surprise that Dead & Company bassist Oteil Burbridge is a fan of marijuana. After the band’s debut trip to Colorado last fall, Burbridge and the band members shared some fun snapshots of them visiting some dispensaries. Burbridge has taken his love a step further, teaming up with GroundSwell Cannabis Boutique to create “Oteil’s Egyptian Kush,” a unique strain of cannabis.

3. Beach Goth group Whole Milk is thrilled to announce the release of its debut self-titled EP, and it’s partnership with marijuana dispensary Chronic Therapy in Wheat Ridge, CO, to release a limited edition wax concentrate named after the band. Any purchase of the wax will include a free digital copy of the album while supplies last.
