Laramie River Valley Rendezvous, a local nonprofit, all volunteer-run organization, will host its first “Party in Plaid” event June 11 at 4 p.m. at Avo’s. Funds raised from this event will go directly to camp programs that LRVR conducts, working with at-risk teens from our area to provide supervised and meaningful weeklong mountain camping adventures for 40 youth at a time. This organization is led by police sergeant, Bob Younger, at present, in addition to several other police officers, firefighters, military personnel, medical professionals, and others from the community. Founded in 1984, this agency has a tremendous success rate working with youth who are experiencing challenges at home and in school and several return to the program as alumni to assist with projects and programs. Recently, a camper from the LRVR program won the top honor in Realities for Children’s Triumph Awards for her achievements in school and service. Tickets: $40 for over 12; $20 for 12 and under. Available on (search: Party in Plaid). Includes entry, beer/wine ticket, grilled dinner. Entertainment will be provided by the band The 14ers and a live auction, including high end experiences such as a yachting day, fishing trips, and a private vacation rental in Alaska for up to 30 people will be featured.
