The Fort Collins Book Festival is coming in hot for their October 21 event themed “Writing and Riffs.” By reflecting the community’s interest and passion in music and creative arts, this year’s theme will delve into music harder than ever before with a featured lineup consisting of a handful of music industry insiders and award-winning authors.
All featured authors will participate in various presentations, readings, and book signings throughout the 12 hour day before coming together for an evening presentation. “The Remix: The Books that Made Me” will address the stories and books that had the most significant influence on each author.
Headlining the event is Kim Gordon, famed Sonic Youth musician, visual artist, and author of Girl in a Band: A Memoir. Other speakers include Steve Knopper, Rolling Stone contributing editor and author of MJ: The Genius of Michael Jackson; Craig Werner, author of We Gotta Get Out of this Place: Music from the Vietnam War; G. Brown, director of Colorado Music Hall of Fame; and Khadijah Queen, award-winning writer and poet from Denver.
The Fort Collins Book Festival starts at 9 a.m. on October 21 and is produced by Poudre River Library District in partnership with the City of Fort Collins Fort Fund and CSU Morgan Library. Visit focobookfest.org for more information.
