Calling all “Old Souls!”
If the feeling of being born in wrong era is relatable, you’re in luck! Saturday, April 14th, from 6pm to 10 pm Fort Collins is hosting a Pin-Up Prom at The Whisk(e)y at 214 S. College Avenue to celebrate the 1950’s!
This event was created by Dawn Duncan, founder of Yellowbright Inc., a public relation agency that markets for non-profits and small businesses. Through the marketing of Yellowbright, the idea of recreating a 1950’s Rockabilly and Pin-Up event seemed like a no-brainer as these events are held throughout the country but this is a first for Northern Colorado. “I have been obsessed with fashion and beauty since my childhood,” said Dawn Duncan, founder of the Pin-Up Prom. “I love everything vintage,” said Duncan, as a proud owner of a 1958 home in Fort Collins she calls the “Mad Men House.” While she doesn’t assign her style to a specific era, she is looking forward to providing the community the opportunity to experience a new type of event and appreciate the music and clothing of an earlier time.
Dawn reached out to Kim Sewald, Manager of Fort Collins vintage store Wear It Again, Sam, the Diamond Level sponsor of the event, so she could exemplify her love of the Pin-Up style. Wear It Again, Sam is the ideal place to get dreamy attire for this event and to introduce the essence of timelessness into your everyday wardrobe. Kim describes many items available at Wear It Again, Sam with their detailed and fine tailoring as classic “works of art” that can be worn for decades! Considering the higher standard of how people presented themselves back then, Kim finds value in keeping the 1950’s aesthetic and music tradition alive.
The Pin Up Prom will include appetizers, free punch, and champagne along with a $5 themed cocktail menu plus a full cash bar that night. New-age Rockabilly band, Kerry Pastine & The Crime Scene will be on hand to provide live music entertainment for this private event of 100 guests. A professional photographer will capture the glam and a Pin-Up Queen will be chosen and crowned. Tickets are $69 for 21+ and the entire venue of The Whisk(e)y, including the Speakeasy small venue, will be specially reserved for the night.
