Got a bit of Spring fever? Enjoy a day full of florals, spring floral beverages, live painting, live music and ready to plant locally grown veggies on May 20 at 2720 Council Tree Ave, Suite 106 from 12:30-3:30 at Akinz pop up shop Sunday Funday.

Suzanne Akin opened her flagship store, Akinz, in Old Town Fort Collins on August 15, 2012. Akinz is a handcrafted lifestyle brand for the adventurer at heart. The brand has been alive for 13 years. It has evolved with Suzanne as she pursues new passions and adventures across the globe. She grew up with an art & design background (an art teacher mother, professional artist as a grandmother, several entrepreneurs in the family & a degree in fashion design), and knew she wanted to create her own company that combined both elements.

In the holiday season of 2017, Suzanne opened a pop-up holiday market, now Akinz second location on the south side of Fort Collins, to showcase other makers and artist in the community.

Suzanne tells the story,

“We opened the south location during the holidays to meet new faces and experiment with a bigger space by bringing in other local makers to showcase what Fort Collins artists have to offer.  We loved the way the space came together and kept hearing, “There’s nothing like this on this side of town” so we decided to stay open a little longer and see what else we could try in the space.”

Akinz pop-up market host over 35 local Fort Collins artisans work for sale. The market started as a temporary holiday shop but found so much success it has remained open. On the third Sunday every month, Akinz celebrates the artist with a Sunday Funday. The clebration is an opportunity to meet the makers, shop, enjoy libations and entertainment.

Suzanne talks more about the market saying,

“We like to think of it as bringing a taste of Old Town to the south side of town.  The Sunday Funday events came together in an effort to connect the community with the makers that were selling their items in the store, and it is growing into a really fun monthly event where we are starting to bring in other local businesses for a celebration of art, food, music and supporting local.”
