This Weekend in Fort Collins: 7/20-7/22

Another week of work has come and gone, it’s time to unwind. Stealing the show this weekend in Fort Collins is Grammy nominated band Devotchka. Their unmistakable sound has been featured at festivals such as Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and Coachella in the past. They’ll be rocking The Mish tonight at 8. Other things going down this weekend are a tree climbing competition, a food truck rally, and a unique metal show. More information below!

Devotchka @ The Mishawaka

When: Friday, July 19

A genre of music that’s hard to put a finger on, but easy to recognize when you hear it. Devotchka has been just about everywhere around the globe and have played alongside bands Muse, Radiohead, The Silversun Pickups, and several more. Ringleader and frontman, Nick Urstan, wrote the soundtrack for hit movies Little Miss Sunshine and Crazy, Stupid, Love. Pretty cool that they’re going to be performing right on the Poudre. ISA Tree Climbing Competition

When: Thursday, July 19 thru Sunday, July 22

Starting Thursday and running through Sunday, the International Society of Arboriculture is operating a professional tree climbing competition in City Park. Climbers from around the country will be gathering for the event to compete and discuss the latest developments in the climbing world. There will be male and female competitions to test maneuvering skills. Runs from 8 a.m. to 3:30 each day, free admission.

Food Truck Rally @ Bath Garden Center

When: Saturday, July 21

The third Saturday of the month is approaching which can only mean one thing, the Food Truck Rally is back! The Bath Garden Center and Nursery is hosting the family-friendly event once a month from April to October. This Saturday features food from Blazin’ Wood Fired Pizza, Colorocko Taco, Dank Dogs, Roses Rub Shack, and the Drake Parlor Entertainment and Ice Cream. Metal Church @ Downtown Artery

When: Sunday, July 22

Who says Sunday and metal music don’t mix? Get heavy early in the A.M. at the Downtown Artery while enjoying drinks and brunch. New Jersey punk band A Boy Named John are headlining the show as a part of their nationwide Summer tour. Local Colorado bands Bound By Years and Flahoola will be playing in support. If you need more convincing, there will be beers, bloody mary’s, and mimosas. Show starts at 11:30.
