This Weekend in Fort Collins: 7/27-7/29

It’s hard to believe the end of July is upon us. This weekend in Fort Collins, we send it off with a bang. The Fort Collins Fringe Festival is taking over the town, a live performance-art festival featuring over 90 performers from all walks of life. Everything from puppetry, to singing, to slap-stick comedy. The town will also play host to a BBQ competition, a Wizard of Oz sing-a-long, and more live music than you could ever dream of. Let’s go!

Fort Collins Fringe Festival

When: July 26 – July 29

Happening all weekend in different venues across town. This event gives local, up-and-coming artists a platform to showcase their talents. Performances will be quick to allow the audience to see several acts over the course of one evening. Including but not limited to improv, magic, stand-up comedy, dance, burlesque shows, and theater. BBBrew for Hope Fundraiser

When: July 28

The annual fundraiser and barbecue competition from the Kansas City BBQ Society is back. This event is 100% volunteer organized by Rotary Club of Fort Collins members, and all funds will be split between three organizations. Tickets to participate are $40. Includes one craft beer ticket, unlimited BBQ tasting, and the power to vote for your favorite competitor. All funds benefiting ChildSafe Colorado, CSU Ag Adventures, and The Rotary Club of Fort Collins International Projects & Grants Committee. For tickets, go to fortcollinsrotary.org/bbq.

Grieves w/ Wake Self, Kind Dub, & more

When: July 28

“Hip Hop on the Hillside” is going on this Saturday at The Mishawaka, featuring Grieves and more. The Seattle based artist has been on tour for over 10 years, drawing musical influences from artists like Atmosphere and Wu-Tang Clan. On his latest release, Running Wild, Grieves wanted to emphasize the importance about letting go and having fun, while also being honest and facing harsh truths about life. Wizard of Oz sing-a-long

When: July 28

A fun little event at the Old Town Library. Witness the classic film on the big screen and bring your best signing voice (no actual talent required). Light refreshments will be provided to all guests for free. The event starts a 2 p.m. and is recommended for everyone age 10 and older.
