This weekend in Fort Collins: Sept 20 – Sept 23


As September slowly withers away the fun continues in Fort Collins. The fall colors in the mountains are in full swing. Take a drive up Poudre Canyon or to Rocky Mountain National park and come back to a weekend packed full of things to do. Here are this weekend’s Highlights. Friday September 21

GABF Private Tour, New Belgium, 4:40pm
Come join us for an exclusive behind-the-scenes 2018 GABF private tour of the brewery. You will be paired with one of our New Belgium coworker ambassadors from various departments who will guide you through the brewery while offering samples along the way.

Jamaland 2018! Camping and Music Party, A Brother’s Fountain, 5pm
Music (of various types and bands) will be from 5-9pm Friday and Saturday night around a bon fire. The rest of our time will be spent camping, climbing, biking, hiking, hammocking, reading, eating, doing whatever you want! BYOB. BYOF.

September Artists in Action Event at the Blue Moose, Blue Moose Art Gallery, 5pm
Demonstrations and new work by Featured artists: Sue Shehan (pastel painter), Alison Weber (weaver, pottery, photography, woodworking), Cheryl Schmidt (fused glass jewelry) and Linda Fitzgerald (oil, acrylic, metallic painting), and Donna Gordon (blown glass).

Murder by Death, Washington’s, 8pm
Murder By Death is a Louisville, KY quintet with a wry, ominous name. But behind the geography and moniker is a band of meticulous and literary songwriters matched by a specific brand of brooding, anthem-riding balladry and orchestral indie rock.

An Evening with Lotus, Mishawaka Amphitheater, 8pm
This show is sold out, but if you can find tickets. Go! Having built a massive fanbase over the years, Lotus tours heavily selling out headline shows across the county and playing festivals such as Electric Forest, Imagine Music Fest, Camp Bisco, and more.

Saturday September 22

Be Ready Family Fun Fair, Fullana Learning Center, 9am
Join Be Ready for a day of family fun at our fourth annual Fort Collins Family Fair! This free community event is a place for you and your family to play, learn and enjoy. There will be giveaways, engaging activities and community vehicles for children to explore, plus information on area preschools.

Fire Ecology Tour, Coalition for the Poudre River Watershed, Gateway Natural Area, 10am
Join CPRW the US Forest Service, and the Rocky Mountain Research Station on Saturday, September 22 from 10am-12pm for a free tour to learn more about how wildfires impact ecology and hydrology and how historical fires shaped the Poudre watershed and the west.

Foothills Equinox Festival, Foothills Mall, 3pm
4 great bands with samples from restaurants at Foothills. the Hop Grenade presents a beer garden, and there will be free family entertainment (face painting, baloon artist and more).

Flow Expo, The Colorado Room, 7pm
Flow Arts is a general term used to describe the intersection of a variety of movement-based disciplines including dance, juggling, fire-spinning, and object manipulation. Come to The Colorado Room to see some of Colorado’s finest flow artists. Constant entertainment for 4 hours!

Wake Up Laughing, Unity Church, 7pm
As anyone who follows the news can attest, we are living in serious times. The antidote? Serious laughter. Take it from the Swami himself: “The best way to overcome gravity is with levity.” Swami Beyondananda brings his laugh-filled cosmic comedy to show to Unity on Saturday evening, Sept. 22, 2018, as part of his Wake Up Laughing tour. Swami’s performance has been described both as “comedy disguised as wisdom,” and “wisdom disguised as comedy.” Which is it? Go see him, and then you decide.

Sunday September 23

Henna & Hops, Intersect Brewing, 1pm
Guests choose a Henna design to be applied to the hand, arm or leg by Jacqueline Maldonado of Nurtured Spirits Henna in our very own Ft. Collins, CO. Come enjoy one of Intersects Beverages and adorn yourself with some beautiful Henna. Participants that purchase a beverage are offered a Medium size Henna adornment for $10! First come, first serve.

Authority Zero w/ Runaway Kids and In the Whale, Hodi’s Half Note, 8pm
Three bands for $12 (if you purchase early). Did you know that Authority Zero recorded their 2017 album “Broadcasting to the Nations” in Fort Collins’ own legendary recording studio, The Blasting Room? This is your chance to hear a local band on a world tour.
