Random Rab / Lapa / Janover, Mishawaka, 8pm
Rab was born. He began to experiment with sound. The back of his head fell on the ground. Sound was released from the THUMP. It was deafening and created around him the first note of Random Rab’s music. Lapa is synonymous to a musical adventure and experience, that blurs borders and transcends boundaries, illuminating the resonance of universal forces and teleporting people to wild, dream- like places of serenity and connection. The music creation is spearheaded by Ilya Goldberg, who is a producer and multi- instrumentalist. With a synthesis of analog, digital and found sounds, blending physical and virtual worlds, and with rooted support by Drummer/instrumentalist Brandon Warren and multi- instrumentalist Nickles D’Onofrio, Lapa’s music presents a diverse and captivating collection of sounds from around the worlds. Rising Appalachia with Lyla June, Mishawaka, 8pm
As the name connotes, the band’s sound arises most directly from the old-time music traditions that were passed down from Leah and Chloe’s parents, who often took the young girls to fiddle camps and gatherings in the Appalachian Mountains. Their home was in a different setting altogether, though. It lay smack dab in the heart of urban Atlanta Georgia, a humble craftsman house where, on most afternoons, fiddle tunes and blues guitar still get played by their mother and father.
