Not every business that closes up shop steers toward a burial at sea — especially in a land-locked state like Colorado. But when Julie Sutter, owner of Fort Collins copywriting and marketing company Unconventional Ink, decided to bid her LLC farewell after 8 years in business, she figured a party with a murky ocean theme might be just the thing to send it overboard. Taking a cue from Octavia, the octopus in Unconventional Ink’s logo, Sutter decided 8 arms worth of hugs, and a live concert event open to the public (tickets are $8, naturally) would be a fun way to honor the entrepreneurial effort and celebrate with family, friends, clients and creative colleagues that helped the company fare so swimmingly for many years.
Several of the musicians performing at Unconventional Ink’s “Sea Wake” on Thursday, 11/8, have worked alongside Sutter, who has recently been named Community Manager at the Music District — a full-time job that luckily keeps her connected to local artists every day. Join the whole crew in the deep end at the Downtown Artery — doors at 7:08 PM, show at 8:00 PM.
Get some sustenance before Sea Wake — join Julie, the bands, and more community galore across the street at The Articulate for FoCoworks Friendsgiving, a donation-based fundraiser for the Food Bank for Larimer County. Bring a side or dessert to share!
