Praised for his mesmerizing shows, McConnell’s Secondhand Solo 2020 Tour is in support of his critically hailed album Secondhand Smoke, released earlier this year. No Depression cited “Between his striking voice and ability to captivate one’s vision with his lyrics, McConnell creates an imaginative world while taking a deeper look at the one we live in”. Rolling Stone Country took special note of the title track calling the song “both understated and stately, ignoring the usual country-pop fireworks while still delivering a palpable bang”.
A long renowned wordsmith, artists across all genres have recorded McConnell’s songs including Tim McGraw, Martina McBride, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Meat Loaf, Brothers Osborne, Buddy Miller, Plain White T’s and most recently co-writing Little Big Town’s “The Daughters”. He earned his first No. 1 single on country charts with Brett Young’s delivery of “Mercy,” which the two co-wrote.
